Parks in Tigard, Oregon: A Local Florist’s Guide to Woodard Park, Cach Nature Park, Sunrise Park, Summerlake Park, and the Green Spaces Where Tigard Goes Outside

A path under tall trees is an easy walk away in Tigard.

Tigard has more green space than most people realize. The City of Tigard says it manages 36 developed park sites covering about 550 acres, plus four undeveloped sites that are still waiting for their turn. We have written about the trails, Cook Park, and the best places for a sunset, and readers keep asking about parks by name. So this is a short, practical guide to the ones that come up most.

The sizes and park types below come from the city’s published park data. Amenities, hours, and closures change, so check the City of Tigard’s Parks Finder before you head out.

🌳 The Parks People Ask About Most

Woodard Park. The city classes it as a neighborhood park of about 19 acres. One regional park directory describes it as a wooded park with large oaks and ponderosa pines, several paths that include part of the Fanno Creek Trail, a playground, and a picnic shelter, with parking off Katherine Street. That makes it a handy starting point for an easy creekside walk. Our history of Tigard mentions it as one of the parks that give Fanno Creek room to spread out.

Cach Nature Park. The city lists Cach as an undeveloped site of about 16 acres. In plain terms, that means it is a natural area rather than a finished park, so do not count on a trailhead sign, restrooms, or a parking lot. Our earlier nature guide describes the area around Cach and Sunrise Park as informal, user-created paths and ponds under ponderosa pines and madrones. Expect rougher ground, wear real shoes, and check with the city before you go.

Sunrise Park. The city lists it as a neighborhood park of about 25 acres, which is big for that class. It sits in the same part of town as Cach, so the two are often mentioned together.

Summerlake Park. One of the city’s community parks, at about 30 acres. It is one of the larger developed parks in town, and the Parks Finder is the place to confirm what it currently offers.

Dirksen Nature Park. A community park of about 49 acres along Fanno Creek, and the one our nature guide calls the wildlife hotspot, with fields, forested paths, and wetlands. It pairs with the Fanno Creek Trail for a longer walk.

🌼 A Word About the Flowers

Parks are a lovely place to look at flowers and a poor place to pick them. In most public parks, plants are meant to stay where they are, so enjoy them, take a photograph, and leave them for the next person. For seasonal color along the creek and the trails, see our trails guide, and for spring flowers and plants to take home, our farmers markets guide is a good companion.

🧺 Planning a Park Gathering?

A simple bouquet can turn any picnic table into a celebration, whether it is a birthday, a small family gathering, or a quiet remembrance by the creek. If the gathering starts at someone’s home, you can order flowers for delivery to Tigard, Bull Mountain, King City, Durham, and across the area, then carry the vase along in a bucket or box. Check the park’s rules first if you plan a larger group event, because some parks need a reservation.
